The first grade is the foundation for reading and math skills. Students will have homework on Monday through Thursday. Reading with your child is a very important part of the homework assignment each night. This also gives student an opportunity to hear language and build their vocabulary. Learning basic addition and subtraction facts from 1-10 are one of the first building blocks for math.
A look into the school year:
1st Grade Homework
First Grade Homework is sent home daily in your child's blue homework folder. The front pocket contains the sheets needed for that day's homework. The back pocket contains a book that your child should read to you (or at the beginning of the year, you may read to your child) that night. Please sign your child's reading log located in their blue homework folder each night. Don't forget to also sign your child's agenda book indicating that you have seen their bus color for the day.
